Tell Governor Newsom to Shut Down the Playa del Rey Gas Storage Facility!

Sign Petition
Join us in calling on Governor Newsom, State Legislators, and the California Public Utilities Commission to support the closure of the risky SoCalGas storage facility in Playa del Rey!

LA has laid out its roadmap to reaching 100% clean energy. Across Southern California we're seeing communties and government officials stepping up and bringing stakeholders together to find the real solutions we need for a just transition.

The longer we wait to begin that process for facilities like the one at Playa del Rey, the less opportunity we provide for the constituencies at the front of this transition to guide our path forward. Right now, we have an opportunity to bring together unions, community members, and other stakeholders in determining an equitable pathway forward for the closure of this site — but we need the Governor to do his part in making that happen.

let's work together to protect LOS ANGELES COMMUNITIES from the playa del Rey Natural Gas Storage Facility now!

Protect Playa Now is a collection of concerned citizens mobilizing to protect Playa del Rey (PdR), Playa Vista and the surrounding communities from the threats posed by LA's fossil fuel infrastructure.

We are working to move LA to a 100% renewable energy future and
close down the PdR Natural Gas Storage Facility.

On January 11, 2019 A gas and oil explosion occurred at a hotel construction site on Via Marina Way raising awareness of the dangers still present in the gas fields below Marina Del Rey.

In 2015 the Aliso Canyon Facility suffered a major blowout poisoning residents and forcing tens of thousands of Angelenos to evacuate their homes in San Fernando Valley.  Together we can shut down the PdR facility and avoid an even greater disaster.
